About This Course:
This session will relive the dynamic history of sustainable design and point the attendees to the “right” conclusions, meaning developing livable cities, energy-efficient communities, and pleasant, easy-to-live-in-buildings. The progression of certain trends in climate change and environmental pollution will be explored. Learn about synergistic solutions arrived at during the construction of landmark projects, around the world.
Learning Objective 1
Appreciate the need to employ high-performance building solutions that are either net-zero or near net-zero energy use, as a way to slow climate change through design and implementation.
Learning Objective 2
Learn how energy efficiency combined with solar electricity and geothermal HVAC is the most viable integrated technology to reduce carbon footprint and operating costs of utilities and buildings.
Learning Objective 3
Encourage design professionals to educate their clients as to the financial and environmental benefits of leveraging renewable energy and energy efficiency in buildings.
Learning Objective 4
Understand (through illustrative case studies) different levels of adoption, up to and including net-zero buildings which are very environmentally friendly.
