About This Course:
The basic principles of Feng Shui are to design building spaces that permit the clear, unobstructed flow of warm and harmonious energy. These design principles from Mother Nature connect to people’s own psyche as well as the spirit of place – they are employed to create nurturing built-environments that promote the mental well-being of the users. In this program, the design elements of selected iconic buildings, which include the Guggenheim Museum, the new Apple headquarters in Cupertino, CA, and the Sydney Opera House in Australia, will be examined to explain how the selection of construction materials, spatial arrangements and orientation are aligned with the Feng Shui theories, as well as their impacts on the building users’ perception of the spaces and feeling of indoor comforts.
